JoeR247 Interviews... WoofieIsMe

November 8, 2018

1. What is the story behind your channel name?

My channel name stems from my gamer-tag, something that I've only recently nailed down in the last 2ish years.

Before that I went under "TheRogueWolf" and "Hopemaster" (I was younger at the time...)

2. What is your video game history/background and all time favourite game?

One of my first memories is playing Super Mario 64 in my living room with my parents. I was amazed by all the different colours on the screen and was hooked from the first second. From there I hopped between PlayStation and Nintendo consoles. As for my all time favourite game, that would have to be Spyro 2. It was the first game I ever 100%'d as a child and I still enjoy it to this day.

3. What/Who inspired you to start creating content on the internet?

That's a difficult question, as I used to make videos on YouTube before streaming

I guess some of the major inspirations at the time were creators within the gaming hemisphere on YouTube in 2013/2014 (Pewdiepie, Yamimash, The Yogcast, etc.)

As for streaming, I hadn't watched all that many streams before I started, just stream highlights from clip compilation channels

4. When did you start creating content on the internet?

I originally started making "Let's Play" styled content back in 2014 under previous usernames for around 18 months. I soon lost interest in the repetitive nature of the content I was producing and took a 3 year break. Fast forward to the January of 2018 and I felt like creating again. YouTube was a mess and twitch seemed promising so I made the leap and have been going ever since.

5. How did you find the first few weeks/months of content creation? (any funny stories/mistakes/highlights?)

There were a few streams earlier on were I was either streaming at too high a bit rate or completely forgot to turn on the microphone. So I'd either have a silent stream or one that looked like a slideshow. It's funny looking back on it now, not so much at the time.

6. How did you grow your channel? How did you network?

Growth was slow in the first few months, I was actively promoting my stream on twitter with no idea how to do it (still don't to an extent.)

Around April, During a Spyro 2 stream, I was invited to a discord dedicated to the purple dragon and engaged with different streamers from that community.

From there I just kept growing at a steady pace and meet new people through either raids or checking out random streams.

7. What has been your proudest moment so far?

Proudest moment so far would be reaching affiliate. I remember getting the email a few minutes after finishing a stream inviting me to the program and being ecstatic.

8. How did you find the technical side of content creation? Setting up your channel, etc?

Wrapping my head around terms like  "kbps" and stuff similar was difficult (and still is at times). Also finding a set up that works within the restrictions you have is a pain at times but can lead to some interesting solutions.

9. What do you enjoy most about your content creation hobby/career?

The sense of community and the people you meet. I love that streaming has the power to bring together people and build communities that have a similar outlooks and sets of interests.

10. What don't you enjoy so much about your content creation hobby/career?

The toxicity and trolls that come with the hobby. People dropping by and just being completely negative within the chat, That can ruin the flow of a stream.

11. What are you short term and long term goals for your channel/s?

SHORT TERM:

Reach 150 followers by the end of the year.

LONG TERM:

To keep enjoying streaming as much as I do now and continuous growth on the platform.

12. What advice would you give anyone looking to get into content creation?

The first step is to just start. Doesn't matter if you want to stream, create videos and art or write. Nothing gets done if you stew on whether or not you're good enough. Just start and pick up the skills you need along the way.

13. Finally, what other content creators do you enjoy watching and recommend people check out?

AshleyRoboto, PhanorDerErste, QuirkyDuckling and Xabi0.
All the people above are amazing streamers and are totally worth a look if you want a good time!
