JoeR247 Interviews... Seriously_Legit

April 11, 2019

1. What is the story behind your channel name?

My channel/username is based on an IRL joke between me and some friends. While talking or telling stories I often used the word "Legit" a lot to describe things and my friends would mock me for it with comments like "Legit? Like legit bruh? Seriously though?" I took to liking the jokes and decided to write up some names for when I started my channel.

I also took to liking the use of an underscore in my name based off I_AM_WILDCAT, a content creator I admired. I pieced it together on an actual paper list. I decided Seriously_Legit sounded the best and I liked it the most so I stuck with it and now I absolutely love it.

2. What is your video game history/background and all time favourite game?

I remember me and my sister used to play Nintendo 64 together back when we were close. From there I took to playing N64, GameCube, and Playstation 2. I also had essentially every handheld out there. I loved my gameboy and DS/3DS! The Playstation 2 will always be my favorite console. After being introduced to VanossGaming on YouTube and learning about Steam, I took to PC gaming and have been on PC ever since. I also have esports background as a prior esports manager for a small time company called ESHUB.

I ran tournaments as the head manager for a free to play game called BlackSquad. I have a ton of hours put into gaming and esports all together. My all time favorite game would have to be the Jak and Daxter series and Banjo Kazooie!

3. What/Who inspired you to start creating content on the internet?

VanossGaming was my all time original inspiration. I didn't know about steam or even YouTube Gaming until a mobile game called Monster Legends added the Vanoss Treehouse where they featured some partnered content of his. I watched his animated video and was hooked immediately.

I then researched steam and PC gaming and told myself that I wanted to be a YouTuber specifically with GMOD gameplay (I never followed through with GMOD however). Everyone in the "Vanoss Crew" Inspired me. I watched all of their videos and still do.

4. When did you start creating content on the internet?

I was originally gonna wait until I had the proper equipment to record and make videos, but then while browsing YouTube I came across a video by PewDiePie on how to get started on YouTube and within that video he stated something that touched me. PewDiePie said that you shouldn't wait to get equipment to start creating content, but rather to start with what you have and upgrade over time thus gathering an audience along the way.

After hearing that I immediately started YouTube January of 2018.

5. What is your content creation setup. Specs and accessories?

I was unable to afford a proper PC, so I actually game on an HP Laptop. The specs are as follows: Processor : AMD A12-9700P RADEON R7, 10 COMPUTE CORES 4C + 6G 64-bit Operating System That is essentially all there is.

6. How did you find the first few weeks/months of content creation? (any funny stories/mistakes/highlights?)

It was tough, but seeing views made me extremely happy! I started out pushing multiple videos right off the bat, but eventually due to my life I had to push things back and record only during special occasions.

7. How did you grow your channel? How did you network?

I networked the most on discord at first. Many people from my personal discord watched my content and showed strong support. Once I Started as the esports manager for BlackSquad I became well known in the NA scene as the manager and for being a high ranked player in our area.

Many followed me on twitter after that and my BlackSquad videos quickly became my best content and most watched. Soon after I joined a few groups and experimented with networking.

8. What has been your proudest moment so far?

I think my proudest moment was getting over 100 views on my first ever published video. I was extremely proud of that when i noticed it.

9. How did you find the technical side of content creation? Setting up your channel, etc?

I watched a lot of tutorials, but most of it was straight forward. My only main struggle is that the measurements for the channel banner are tricky and hard to get right when making your graphics.

10. What do you enjoy most about your content creation hobby/career?

I enjoy the idea that someone is being entertained with my content. That was my goal. Getting feedback and seeing that I made someone happy or they enjoyed what I did means the absolute world to me. I also of course love the gaming in general.

11. What don't you enjoy so much about your content creation hobby/career?

My main complaint is my equipment. I can only record particular games, mainly small ones that aren't hard on my laptop. I can play popular games, but most are hard to run and if I can run them, its on low graphics and not good for content. I can't produce videos on the games I want to play due to this.

I would love to record Battle Royales, but I can't. I especially would love to record just about any game made by Ubisoft, but most run low graphics and no one wants to see that.

12. What are you short term and long term goals for your channel/s?

My short term goal would be to hit 100 Subscribers and as always to produce better content with each video as a learning experience. My long term goals would be to obtain a consistent audience on both YouTube and Social Media.

I also one day would like to start streaming if my financial situation ever allows for me to get a pc capable of doing such and following my dreams.

13. What advice would you give anyone looking to get into content creation?

Even though I never was able to do so yet, try to obtain a PC capable of handling recording/streaming and cpu/gpu extensive games. And as always, networking is key.

14. Finally, what other content creators do you enjoy watching and recommend people check out?

My favorite content creators would be as follows: - BasicallyIdoWrk - VanossGaming - Wildcat - H20Delirious - Steven Ascher and many others including multiple streamers from WeAreHIVE!

Seriously_Legit is a prior esports manager/tournament organizer and Owner of BioLogicaL Gaming Hub.

He also creates a variety of gaming videos on YouTube mainly First Person Shooters.
