1. What is the story behind your channel name?
I have been Wizzit online for 15 years, why the 1st, cause people like to steal names and I was the 1st!
2. What is your video game history/background and all time favourite game?
Started playing way back in the 90's on a NES, my first console, I still have it and it developed from there. FF9 is prob my favourite game of all time, but there are loads I love.
3. What/Who inspired you to start creating content on the internet?
I was bored, had enjoyed watching other people on twitch, i play games anyway, thought why not give it a go.
4. When did you start creating content on the internet?
My first real content was when I recorded a World Of Warcraft achievement video for YouTube about 8 years ago, that has over 300k views. But this was a one hit wonder and it took me some time after to make more regular content. I have been on twitch on and off for about 3 years.
5. What is your content creation setup. Specs and accessories?
Really it is the basics, PC, cam, headset. Just recently got a greenscreen, but it is a bit bulky to use so has not been out much.
6. How did you find the first few weeks/months of content creation? (any funny stories/mistakes/highlights?)
A lot of sitting on my PC, talking to myself and wondering if there was anyone who would ever watch me, when I was not streaming I was looking at other new channels and making friends and connections, some of which survived and are thriving today.
7. How did you grow your channel? How did you network?
I am active in a lot of channels, I check out the twitch discovery bar a lot and I use twitter. I don't advertise I'm a streamer else where unless the question/conversations go there. But I am active on twitter. I'm not networking, I'm making friends and I often frequent a large amount of other streams in my spare time.
What made my channel grow was peoples interest in my hobby as a bee keeper and my willingness to share that hobby and experience online.
8. What has been your proudest moment so far?
A couple of months ago I was starting my stream and my 5 year old was out waving at the camera in his beekeepers suit. It was a very funny, completely natural moment.
It made me proud of what I am doing as a beekeeper and streamer, and was great to show everyone that even a 5 yr old can have fun on stream and with bees.
9. How did you find the technical side of content creation? Setting up your channel, etc?
To start with it was a very big learning curve, I would recommend anyone starting out to just do it with what you have and develop a single aspect of the stream at a time.
Once you have the basics down the rest is just small adjustments that you think are needed or that come from feedback from viewers.
10. What do you enjoy most about your content creation hobby/career?
The community, I see so much love, especially recently, I have had hosts and raids and I like to watch peoples VOD's to see how they decided to choose me to send their community to. There is so much love out there and no-one within my circle of friends/streamers seems to feel pressured or motivated by anything but love to share their viewers.
A lot of people I have been raided by have done it because I am a beekeeper (even when the buzzy ladies are not on stream) or just because they have not seen me live in a while (3 kids and some mental health issues have been a factor in why I have not been live regularly).
11. What don't you enjoy so much about your content creation hobby/career?
I don't enjoy when I want to stream and my mental health is really stopping me, anxiety and stress are big factors for me, and sometimes I may have planned or wanted to stream and I have just not been in the right frame of mind to do it.
I am working on that and having done some No-Cam streams I have felt some of the pressure on myself relieved. This is one of the reasons I am not such a regular streamer or keep a schedule.
12. What are you short term and long term goals for your channel/s?
Honestly, nothing really, I have seen natural growth recently which has been nice, I didn't expect it, I don't watch numbers live anymore but I enjoy looking at my analytics.
I would like to get a decent sub count going, only so I can unlock some more emote slots as I have some lined up already, that is really my only goal, the rest is just to have fun and start working on actually completing some games.
13. What advice would you give anyone looking to get into content creation?
Start small, use only what you have, don't feel the need to go and buy loads of new equipment. And never watch the numbers, growth will happen, let it be natural, don't force it.
Be active, in your streams, on socials, and go and support other creators, I have found some great streamers through the discovery bar.
Don't be selfish, spread and share streaming love for the love of being a streamer
14. Finally, what other content creators do you enjoy watching and recommend people check out?
Oh I gotta say recently I have really been enjoying: the_viking_monkey, riotalexis and thebrozerker, all great content creators who deserve some love.
