1. What is the story behind your channel name?
Well to be honest I'm extremely unoriginal when it comes to names! My first name is Stephen and my surname starts with a B. So... yeah I guess I'm StevoB!
2. What is your video game history/background and all time favourite game?
When I was very young my dad bought a Sega Master System II, although I didn't play very often I was always fascinated watching him play the likes of Sonic the Hedgehog and Alex Kidd in Miracle World.
In the mid to late 90's we got our first PlayStation along with Tekken 2 and as a family we've kinda just stuck with the PlayStation brand from there. My favourite all time game is the original Metal Gear Solid!
3. What/Who inspired you to start creating content on the internet?
To be honest I kind of just liked the idea of sharing gameplay. Of course over time I gradually came across content creators that inspired me, the likes of Keralis and Super GT for example.
Now although I don't necessarily upload content for the same kind of games as them they still inspired me in some way for my own content.
4. When did you start creating content on the internet?
I was pretty slow to start making any real content as I didn't have access to a capture card or recording software. It'll be around 2010 when I started uploading short clips to YouTube, when some games had features that allowed you to share 30 seconds or so of gameplay.
In 2016 I finally bought an Elgato and could start making proper videos.
5. What is your content creation setup. Specs and accessories?
To capture my gameplay footage I use an Elgato Game Capture HD along with a Blue Snowball iCE to capture my commentary. During post I edit my audio in Audacity before rendering in Vegas Pro 15.
All of this I do on my MSI GP63 Leopard Gaming Laptop. While streaming I also use an Elgato Stream Deck and Streamlabs OBS.
6. How did you find the first few weeks/months of content creation? (any funny stories/mistakes/highlights?)
It was really just a lot of fun getting to grips with making content and trying to decide what I wanted to focus on. I tried different things but eventually settled on Let's Plays.
7. How did you grow your channel? How did you network?
After seeing an increase in views on one of my videos I decided to start networking on Twitter. From there I then branched out to Instagram and then Discord.
Joining these social media platforms was a great idea as it allowed me to connect with other content creators like myself, many of whom I now regard as some of my very best friends!
8. What has been your proudest moment so far?
It would be when I finally added commentary to my videos and streams! I've never been the most confident of people, especially when talking, so doing this was a big step for me. I never liked hearing my voice but after a lot of support from friends to give it a go I did and haven't stopped since!
I still get a little nervous sometimes but I enjoy making my content feel more personal and try my best to show more of my personality in my content.
9. How did you find the technical side of content creation? Setting up your channel, etc?
Pretty easy actually! I have a degree in IT and used to work in IT so things like editing are second nature to me. Of course I still have things to learn and with every video and stream I'm constantly looking at ways that I can improve my content.
10. What do you enjoy most about your content creation hobby/career?
The fact that I've met so many amazing people! Although not all of them create content, I wouldn't have met any of them if I hadn't decided to do so myself.
11. What don't you enjoy so much about your content creation hobby/career?
It can be extremely frustrating sometimes when you put all the effort into making your content and get little to no views. Although I don't necessarily see that as a negative! I see that as an opportunity to work ever harder, network more, then when the views start rolling more I can see all that hard work paying off.
12. What are you short term and long term goals for your channel/s?
Short term I would like to become a Twitch Affiliate. I've been streaming for a while and still not there yet but I keep pushing! My long term goal is to reach 1000 subscribers on YouTube, then potentially aim for the YouTube Partnership Program.
13. What advice would you give anyone looking to get into content creation?
Don't give up and create content that YOU enjoy making! It's easy to get wrapped up in worrying about views etc but it takes time and a lot of hard work. Network with other creators trying to build up their own fanbase and channels. Let your personality shine in your content and people will keep coming back to watch you.
14. Finally, what other content creators do you enjoy watching and recommend people check out?
Elle May, LeeksPlays, NoPantsWonderday, mimipantalones, SicilianGaming and Twinkly Tanya Plays.
